Delta Home Additions & ADU: The Sacramento Owner’s Guide
If your Delta fixtures and finishes are spec’d into a home addition or ADU plan, we can help you get from drawings to a finished space. Penhallow Remodeling Sacramento installs Delta faucets, shower systems, and bath hardware as part of full home addition and accessory dwelling unit projects, with most complete additions in Sacramento running $45,000 – $130,000 depending on square footage, foundation work, and mechanical upgrades. That’s a real number, not a teaser, and we put it in writing before the first permit is pulled.
Most Sacramento homeowners come to us because they want the addition to match the house, and Delta is often already in their kitchen or bathroom. When a Delta fixture fails, it’s usually the cartridge or the seal, not the brass body. When a Delta spec fails, it’s usually a rough-in that was put in the wrong spot, a shower valve that can’t handle the water pressure in East Sacramento, or a tub spout that drips because the diverter was installed on a wall that wasn’t level. We see it all, and we fix it before the drywall goes up.
Which Delta Models This Applies To

For home additions and ADUs in Sacramento, the Delta lines we work with most are Trinsic, Leland, Cassidy, Dryden, and the Windemere series for traditional bath styles. The distinction matters: Trinsic uses a mono-cartridge design that fits a specific rough-in valve body, and if you buy a Delta trim (the visible handle and escutcheon) without confirming it matches your rough-in, you’re in for a second trip to the supply house and a wall that stays open for another day.
Delta’s own R10000 rough-in is the workhorse for most add-on bathrooms and ADU builds. It’s compatible with newer Delta valve trims, but older Delta 1400-series trims won’t always marry to it, and neither will the cheap aftermarket bodies you see on online marketplaces. We use OEM Delta parts on everything we install. Aftermarket cartridges are out there for $8, and they fail in 14 months. The OEM Delta cartridge is about $30 and lasts eight to ten years under normal Sacramento water conditions. We’re not going to put a part in your new wall that we’ll be back to change before the warranty on the addition is even dry.
One thing to know: Penhallow Remodeling Sacramento is an independent contractor, not a Delta dealer or service center. If you’re planning a kitchen or bath around a Delta product, we’ll install it correctly and stand behind the labor for a full year under our 365-Day Done Right Promise. We also spec and install KraftMaid cabinetry, Cambria quartz, and Silestone countertops on the same job, so one crew is accountable for the whole space.

Signs Your Delta Home Additions & ADU Is Failing
- Low water pressure at the new fixture only. This usually isn’t the Delta valve, it’s a supply line that was kinked during the rough-in or a cartridge that picked up debris from a Sacramento municipal water line that hadn’t been flushed. We pull the cartridge, flush the body, and the pressure comes back.
- Temperature swings while the shower is running. If you flush a toilet and the shower goes cold, the Delta pressure-balanced cartridge is failing or the supply lines are undersized. In older Sacramento homes with galvanized piping, this problem shows up in the addition before it shows up anywhere else because the runs are longer.
- A persistent drip from the tub spout. In an ADU, this is almost always a diverter that isn’t seating fully because the rough-in wasn’t installed at the correct depth. The fix is replacing the spout or the diverter stem, but the underlying issue is an install detail that should have been caught during the build.
- Escutcheon plate separating from the wall. This is a sub-surface problem: the backing wasn’t solid, or the valve was mounted proud of the finished wall. Tightening the trim won’t solve it. The plate needs to be reset once the wall cavity is corrected.
- Finish flaking or spotting within the first two years. Sacramento water is hard, and Delta’s champagne and stainless finishes hold up well, but only if they’re wiped down. If the finish is compromised, it’s often chemical contact from a cleaner that wasn’t approved. Check the finish class before you grab the bleach spray.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a full home addition in Sacramento, plan on $45,000 – $130,000. Smaller bump-out projects and single-room additions sit at the bottom of that range, while two-story additions with structural work, new HVAC runs, and kitchen or bath plumbing hit the top. A detached ADU runs $90,000 – $220,000 depending on whether it’s a garage conversion or a full-framed new build, and a garage conversion typically lands between $30,000 – $80,000.
What you’re paying for on the Delta side isn’t a lot of sku numbers. A Delta Trinsic tub/shower valve runs about $180 – $300, faucets $150 – $400, and bath accessories $40 – $150 each. The labor and substrate work are the cost floor: setting the rough-in at the correct depth, waterproofing the cement board substrate (the moisture-resistant layer behind your tile), and cutting an access panel that a future plumber will thank us for. Every line item is listed in writing before you sign. No change orders, no “we discovered something” phone calls that double the bid. The number on day one is the number on the invoice.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely handle cartridge identification by pulling the handle and reading the stem length and color code, but if you have to open the wall, that’s our job. Delta systems are low-voltage and safe to inspect, but the replacement involves shutting down the main line, sweating or crimping fittings, and knowing what a pass-through vs. a stop configuration is. If you get it wrong, you’re pulling tile off a wall that was just finished. Call us at (279) 300-1177 before you open a wall. We’ll tell you straight whether it’s a 20-minute cartridge swap or a rough-in that was set wrong, and the estimate is free.
FAQs

A properly installed Delta cartridge lasts eight to ten years under typical Sacramento water conditions, although hard water in neighborhoods like Land Park and Curtis Park can shorten that if sediment builds up in the supply lines. The valve body itself should outlast the addition if it’s installed to spec.
Cartridges, seals, diverters and trim pieces are all replaceable, and we do that repair work every week. You only need a full replacement if the brass body is cracked, which is rare, or if you’re changing finishes and the trim isn’t available for that series anymore. Call (279) 300-1177 and we’ll diagnose it before recommending a replacement.
For a functional Delta fixture in an existing wall, the swap takes about two hours including water shutoff and testing. If the rough-in valve is involved, or we need to open the wall and re-waterproof the substrate, allow one full day plus tile drying time.
We stock the most common Delta cartridges, diverters, and trim adapters on our service vehicles, so a standard repair can usually be completed in one visit. Specialty trims and less common finishes may require a 2 – 3 day order from the Sacramento supply house, and we’ll tell you that before you commit to the repair.
